Website Redesign for Carolina House Restaurant

Website design and development project for Carolina House Restaurant

Back in 2008 we built Carolina House Restaurant’s first website. At that time the iconic Kinderhook business was owned by the Liptaks. We helped them establish the restaurant’s online presence, and things went so well that the family hired us to build a website for another business that they owned.

When Tammy Crawford and her family bought Carolina House Restaurant in 2013, we were retained as web developer. In the 7+ years since we built the first Carolina House site, a lot had changed in the online world. By 2013 smart phone usage was ubiquitous, but the old site wasn’t mobile responsive, so navigating it on a mobile device was difficult. Also, Tammy wanted to make changes to the site herself, but the old site did not have that functionality. Building a new site was the obvious remedy.

After much discussion about new content, new features, and a new look, we started designing and building a new site. Tammy was a pleasure to work with. She knew what she wanted, but she was also open to new ideas. She came to us with a color scheme and a font preference and left the rest to us.

Carolina House offers a distinctive experience. Several dining rooms as well as outdoor seating can accommodate any number of dining preferences, and the website had to reflect all of them. The restaurant caters events on-site and off-site, has a terrific happy hour crowd, and is open for dinner and lunch. On top of all that, they host special events and fundraisers. Our job was to combine all those things into a clean, intuitive, cohesive look.

Tammy is so pleased that she thanked us in both her monthly newsletter and her new website’s homepage.
